Inspiration All Around!!

BEFORE

AFTER

I wish i could say i MADE these...but my daughter was making up a lab she missed in foods class. It was a simple bread stick recipe...but when it came time to rolling them out and putting them on the pan she was too impatient to wait for me to explain how to do it and these were the END result! Somehow her creative instincts took over and these perfect bread sticks and pretzels appeared!! They were beautiful and so delicious!!  I love to cook but when it comes to presentation I am mostly in a hurry to get it done so everyone can eat!  But she has inspired me to try to plan ahead so I can take a little extra time to enjoy the process and create even more Yummy looking food! Enjoy!

Simple Bread Sticks

1T yeast
1 1/2 C Warm Water
1T Honey
1tsp Salt
4-4 1/2 C

Mix the first four ingredients...add flour till dough forms a soft ball. Knead lightly then shape into
bread sticks or pretzels. Place on greased cookie sheet...brush lightly with melted butter and sprinkle with poppy seed, salt, Parmesan cheese, or cinnamon sugar  {this is optional}.   Let rise until double,  approx 15-30 minutes, Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.  Brush with butter.

Mother's Milk

Mimijumi {means mother's milk} the name is perfectly fitting for this chic Brand of baby bottles. So unique...The innovative nipple design replicates a mother’s breast, creating a natural feeding and latching experience for a happier and healthier bottle fed baby. From my own personal experience...as I mainly breastfeed my baby... this was the only bottle my baby was comfortable taking.  Now she is old enough to take cereal so I thin out the cereal and she will take it in her mimijumi bottle with the flowrate 3, 6+ month nipple. It truly is the next best thing to Mama! Try it!

Fri, 07 Oct 2011 13:19:00 -0700 Nursery Make-Over ABC Style! by Tana Hallows http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/nursery-make-over-abc-style-by-tana-hallows http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/nursery-make-over-abc-style-by-tana-hallows

Nursery Make-Over ABC Style!

I am in the process of moving my boys down to the basement {which is being finished as we speak} then my idea is to repaint their old room to make it Presley's Nursery! So While meeting with the vendors at the ABC kids Expo I kept my eye out for Nursery Furniture and Decor. The only problem...there were so MANY to choose from which only makes my choice more difficult in deciding exactly which one I really want! One that particularly caught my eye was Petitnest...if you are not familiar with their story go to their website and see... I love their clean, modern, look and the
fact that its all made in the USA and Eco Friendly.  I also enjoyed meeting the founders Tiffani Thiessan and Loni Paul. These talented ladies were so sweet...

A couple of my favorite pieces include the Alouette Crib...

And Sophie Dresser.

We were so LUCKY to test drive for 4 days one of the new iCandy Peach strollers...talk about the Mercedes of the Stroller industry this stroller is Made in the UK and maneuvers like your driving a POSH Car. A few of my favorite features: the Seat can lie flat so my baby was able to sleep easily! While walking the show for 8 hrs a day she had some long naps in this Baby! The Basket packs a TON of stuff...I was able to load up on lots of fun products each day! As well as the handle extends for my very tall Husband...which made it very easy for him to enjoy pushing her around. It was lovely to meet the owners of iCandy too... thanks guys for making the show an Enjoyable ride for my Baby!!

Thu, 15 Sep 2011 19:08:00 -0700 Success Series 2 - THOUGHTS Are Things http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/success-series-2-thoughts-are-things http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/success-series-2-thoughts-are-things

{Success Series 2} THOUGHTS Are Things...

This is a concept I feel very strongly about...having already discussed about the law of attraction in a previous post, the principal Thoughts are THINGS goes hand in hand with this law and so powerful! As an energy we can attract good or bad through the thoughts that we are thinking right now!

"A man is literally what he thinks...a complete sum of all his thoughts!"   by James Allen

This food for thought is very True!

We reap what we sew or in other words we become what we think about all day long! It can be
tough and requires great discipline to always keep positive thoughts in our minds...
especially when times are tough and we are easily discouraged.  At that point I try to reassess the
situation and think on the positive side the options and how I can make the situation better.  Then I imagine it "AS IF" it were better and how I want the circumstances to be... I can attest that I have
seen the circumstances change... it gets better over and over again  :-)!
I would like to encourage you in your quest for success in life that you remember how important your
thoughts are...they will shape and mold your destiny!  I know you {WE} can do it!  Just don't give UP!

Wed, 07 Sep 2011 09:02:00 -0700 She Found her Thumb...Good or Bad? by Tana Hallows http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/she-found-her-thumbgood-or-bad-71328 http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/she-found-her-thumbgood-or-bad-71328
She keeps finding her thumb...should I let her do it? All my other kids took a pacifier except for 1 and he was the easiest to put to sleep...we laid him in his bed and he went right to sleep. The others that liked their pacifier were fairly easy to ween from it. But I have never had a thumb sucker...she just started doing it so I am interested to see if she continues. I did a little research... and they say its better to suck your thumb than a pacifier because its natural and they can soothe themselves rather than rely on you to help them do it. They even go on to say that its really not too hard to get them to stop sucking on their thumb...{this is the part I am not sure about?} I am very curious to know if anyone has had good luck with their thumb-sucker? I must say...she looks so cute when she does it! :-)

Mon, 14 Feb 2011 04:21:00 -0800 At Toy Fair. http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/at-toy-fair http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/at-toy-fair Opening day at the TIA Toy Fair at the Javitz Center in NYC was quite exciting. The mood is very upbeat, as both vendors and buyers are looking forward to a much better season in 2011. Our team interviewed quite a few vendors, especially those who sell to toy specialty stores. We saw so many great new products that we'll have to wait until a wrap-up post after we return to our offices to offer up a list of our favorites. We also visited many current and past Mom's Best Award winners and they were very excited about our new social media marketing services. Seems that everyone finally realizes that participation in social media is no longer an option, and success depends on crafting a unique strategy and proper integration. We're off to the trade show floor again today. We'll have more updates throughout the day as we tweet from the show.

Sun, 06 Feb 2011 07:19:00 -0800 500,000 cribs recalled following strangulation and suffocation deaths http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/500000-cribs-recalled-following-strangulation http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/500000-cribs-recalled-following-strangulation

A crib blamed for at least three infant deaths and several injuries is being recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The federal agency just announced the recall Thursday. Unfortunately, the company that manufactured the cribs is no longer in business, making specifics surrounding sales of the product unclear.

According to the CPSC, Generation 2 Worldwide and "ChildESIGNS" full-size and portable drop side cribs pose suffocation and strangulation hazards to babies and toddlers. Parents should stop using these cribs immediately and find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby.

Generation 2 went out of business in 2005 so the CPSC has limited information about the cribs, but administrators believe some 500,000 were sold at retailers, such as Wal-Mart and Kmart stores, nationwide, including Huntsville.

The crib’s plastic hardware can break, causing the drop side of the crib to detach from a corner of the crib. When the drop side detaches, it creates a space that can wedge or entrap an infant.

In July 2007, an eight-month-old from Ohio suffocated when he became entrapped between the drop side and the crib mattress. In October 2003, an eight-month-old from Indiana suffocated in the same manner. These are just two of the tragedies related to these cribs.

Some of the known model numbers are: 10-110X, 10-210X, 21-110X. But it is important to note that all Generation 2 Worldwide and "ChildESIGNS" drop side cribs are included in this recall, including those with other model numbers.

Sun, 06 Feb 2011 07:16:00 -0800 Officers show off gear and give kids tips at safety expo - Miami-Dade - MiamiHerald.com http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/officers-show-off-gear-and-give-kids-tips-at http://momsbestmedia.posterous.com/officers-show-off-gear-and-give-kids-tips-at

Public safety officers show off their gear and training expertise at an outdoor expo.

ldinkova@MiamiHerald.com

Three times on Saturday third grader Randy Terrero led four other children inside a tent filled with nontoxic smoke in search of a fire victim. He used a thermal imaging camera to help him see in the dark.

``I saw a lot of smoke,'' Randy said emerging from the tent. ``It was really cool finding the victim.''

The tent was intended to simulate real conditions firefighters go through as part of the Miami-Dade Public Safety Expo held at Tropical Park at 7900 SW 40th St.

The event, which was free and open to the public, was intended to give residents an opportunity to meet public safety officers as well as to raise money for charities.

``This is an opportunity for people to meet the men and women behind the badge,'' said Captain Eric Baum, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department. ``One of the things that are awesome is you can fast forward 15 to 20 years and this is what's going to inspire these kids to join the public safety force.''

Participating organizations included Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department, Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitations Department and Miami-Dade Department of Emergency Management.

About 450 public safety officers volunteered and 20,000 people attended, organizers said. Miami-Dade Police Director James Loftus said the event was an opportunity for residents to interact with police officers in a more relaxed setting. ``Usually when you see a police officer it is when you get a ticket or in a bad circumstance,'' Loftus said.

``I think it is great to just interact with them and for them to see that we are them. Our kids go to school with their kids and we go to church, too.''

Aside from the smoke-filled tent, visitors also got to see the inside of a fire-rescue helicopter, a DUI-testing truck and a van that transports criminals to court.

Some parents got their children fingerprinted as a safety method in case their child goes missing in the future.

As the day winded down and people gathered at bleachers for a series of demonstrations from the various departments, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Capt. Esteban Hondarez continued to put firefighter's jackets and helmets on children eager to walk in the smoke-filled tent.

The jacket Randy, the third grader, wore dragged on the ground, tripping him over. And the yellow helmet slipped over his face every now and then, obstructing his vision.

But he wasn't bothered by the oversized gear, citing the smoky tent as his ``favorite'' part of the event and eagerly standing in line ready to lead another team inside.
